Charlie Chislaghi’s first job in the sports industry was in 1986, as an unemployed coal mining engineer working for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a member of an entry-level sales staff created by Bernie Mullin, former SVP-Business Operations for the Pirates, and sold the full menu of Pirate ticket options for four months. During those four months, Charlie learned our industry’s “best practices and techniques” from Bernie, and he excelled. Because of Bernie’s recommendation, an opportunity to create and manage an entry-level sales staff for the Seattle Mariners soon followed and Sports Sales Consulting, Inc. was born.

A veteran who served in the US Army from 1971 through 1973, Charlie is a first-generation American, born in Monongahela, Pennsylvania which is located 15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh on the Monongahela River. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s of science degree in Mining and Aeronautical Engineering and has lived in Pittsburgh since 1967.

Charlie has been a Big Brother of Allegheny County, served on the board of and is still active with Haiti H2O, a nonprofit ministry that serves the poor of western Haiti, and served on the board of Breachmenders, Inc., which was a nonprofit housing rehab ministry in Pittsburgh.

Five years after their first spouses passed away, Charlie married Marilyn. They have Ben, a student at the University of Pittsburgh and Clare, a student at Trinity Christian High School.
